How would lowering graduation requirements be beneficial to high school students?
If a school district relaxes its graduation requirements from a C average to a D average, would the students benefit? Or would it simply increase the district's graduation rates without improving the quality of education?

Why change anything at all?
My kids are doing fine. They go to a great public school. They love their teachers. We make sure they do their homework. I don't want to risk changing the education they are currently getting for some unknown solution that will make it better for everyone.

How much control should a principal have?
If you were the principal of a school, how much control would you want over what happens in your school? If teacher layoffs were necessary, would you want to be able to consider teacher performance as a factor when making such decisions, or not?
